History and FAQ

By the community, for the community...

For over 3 decades, Nederland has held an annual Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate community.  It is an opportunity for people to come out and share a meal provided by the community for the community.  Local businesses and residents have always helped to supply the main courses- turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and vegetables- for the entire dinner.  The best part is the potluck, where all the members of this region can share their favorite side dishes, desserts, or secret reciepies.  The event has been held at the Nederland Community center in recent years.  This provides a wonderful space for shared tables, live music, and food.

Tell me more about the food...

Amazing local businesses and community members donate the main courses for the meals.   Check out our sponsors to see the full list!  The event provides turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and vegetables for everyone attending.   Attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share- anything goes!  The potluck table is usually filled with cranberry sauces, casserole dishes, salads, vegan delights, vegetables, and so much more.  Also, the event and local businesses provide basic drinks and coffee for everyone too.

Most importantly, is there dessert?

Yes! It wouldn't be a thanksgiving dinner without some pumpkin pie.   The dessert table is another potluck opportunity, the delectable dishes that people have brought over the y ears are amazing.  So if a casserole isn't your thing, feel free to bake up your prize winning cookies or pie.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself and all your friends and family of course.  Make sure to BYOD- Bring Your Own Dishes!  This is a ZERO WASTE event! We will have compost and recycling available at the dinner.  Bring your own dishes, enjoy your meal, and bring those dishes home.  We have done an AMAZING job in the past keeping this a zero waste event, however everyone plays a part.  Lets not only support our community, but the environment and resources that we use!  Go team plan
